One of Pump Products' Many Original Product Images Armstrong S-46 Circulator Pumps  are among the many models individually photographed by Pump Products.

In an ongoing effort to provide customers with the best available information on our products, Pump Products is making high-quality, original photos of pumps and accessories available to on-line shoppers as an aid to product selection.

"Before we launched PumpProducts.com, we found that a lot of the stock images that appeared on-line were inaccurate or showed little detail.  In the case of replacement parts, images often didn't exist," says General Manager Ed Drejman.  "By producing our own photos in-house, we provide our customers with much more information than they are likely to get elsewhere. With high-grade images, detailed descriptions and specifications, manuals and click-on reviews, we're offering product information that's on par with, and in many cases, exceeds, an in-store shopping experience."

The current site design, which features thousands of thumbnail images, was developed to provide shoppers with a shorthand visual reference to individual models. Thumbnails can be magnified with a mouse click to reveal large, full-color, high resolution images of the product from a variety of angles.

"We're starting with our best-selling Armstrong pumps and repair parts and plan to work our way through our entire catalog. Our goal is to provide essential information that may not be clearly explained in product descriptions, in photo form," says Product Expert, Fred Hettinger. " In addition to construction, flange shape and special features like gauges, vent plugs and accessories, we strive to give the customer a sense of a product's quality by providing as detailed an image as possible."

Planning, shooting and editing a wide range of product images that they are consistent in exposure, angle and dimension can be a painstaking process but as an on-line store, good, clear photos are critical to effectively marketing our products.

"Every single image is planned, shot and then edited to a consistently sized and dimensioned canvas prior to being uploaded, which has resulted in uniform and great looking product displays," says Multimedia Producer Stacey Szewcyk. "It's time consuming on the production end but will ultimately save time if it results in better-informed customers and fewer product returns. Plus, we're the only source for a lot of product images, which adds to our appeal among online shoppers who want to see what they're buying beforehand.
